Research Topic Proposal

Like I stated on the discussion board, I will be doing question three. This question talks about the positive and negative influences of the Internet/Web-based technologies on society, education, business and just about anything else you can think of. I've been pondering a couple ideas for each positive and negative influences:

Positive influences- internet is great for business-able to trade stocks instantaneously, transfer large amounts of money without ever physically touching it,keep in-touch and even have project partners across the globe; society is able to use the internet to purchase products, participate in discussion boards, able to have a web community; schools have recently started doing online classes- very beneficial for the person who has to work, computers are essential for class...think about what we're doing right now! These are just a few ideas, i have many more

Negative influences- people who know what they're doing can hack into computers and destroy and/or tamper with a business information, fraud is very possible, people use facebook, myspace, and other social networks to perhaps stalk people and be creepy..you can pretty much keep up with someones life if they are the type of person to be constantly updating thier status and posting pictures ect, its possible a distant learning student could have someone take tests for them or cheat some how.

Technology has effected just about every job possible. reasearching how it has effected the job that you are studying might help you in interveiws or your job later in life. Your positives and negatives have a lot of reasearch potential.

I agree with your postive and negatives of the internet. You can soo many things on the internet...I just paid a bill online that was due today. If i had to mail it in it would have been late which means lowering my credit score!!!! Thank god!

There's quite a bit you can do with these ideas, Andy.
In fact, to make it a little more manageable, you'll probably need to narrow it down. From your blog, it seems that you're considering a pro/con approach, so, for example, your potential research questions could be "What are the advantages and disadvantages of online learning?"
You could narrow that down further and pick an age range for the students you are discussing. If you want to focus on business, your potential research question could be "How has technology enhanced or harmed global commerce?"
Honestly, you have many directions you can take, picking one will be the challenge.
