Synthesis

To be honest, the hardest part in writting something acedemic is getting started. Usually writting something acedemic requires research which i always think is going to take like a million years and just the thought of that scares me. So i procrastinate. Once i start feeling the pressure to get something done is when i do it...lol i know thats terrible isn't it? In all reality, its not really that hard. Finding sources and going through them just requires some focus and can get done in a day or two. Knowing how to research is a big part in making things go quick. So, just getting stated is the hardest for me.

I do sometimes have problems with spitting out what i want to say. Like in my head i know what i want to say and it makes perfect sense and i understand it but i just cant get it out like i want too. I have trouble sometimes explaining what i'm trying to say. I can usually figure something out but i guess you could say i have a problem with this.

As far as citing stuff, never had a problem with that or incorporating stuff. I feel i was taught well in doing that in high school.

I think i actually like writting acedemically more than creatively. I'm a very objective person so writting on facts or actual issues is more fun to me than writting someting creative. I like to be able to have acedemic sources with facts to back up claims than have nothing to work off of when writting creatively.

I have the same problem. It is difficult for me to start the writing. I found that the time I spent in starting is approximately 60% or more in the whole time I completed an article. As long as I started to write, it is faster to go on. I have to work hard with starting the writing.

Me too. i can not start writing very fast. I need to think a good statement at the beginning.I also need to think about support ideas whether they are strong enough. I also consider what kind of conclusion is beautiful.

An American could have these kinds of problem, so the foreigner would have these problems too. Actually, I think it’s easier if there is already have the topic and you would know what you are required to do, but if someone ask me to give a 3 min talk without prepare I would have nothing to talk about. I think the language is not the biggest problem when you try to write or say something, but the communication skills are the problems.

Hi Andy:
this is Jackson. yes that's true, the beginning and end are both the most important parts. it's the hardest section for an essay. after you finish the beginning, half of essay has already been decided. even you want to change some important body paragraph, you must change the beginning at first.

Hi Andy,
I stongly agree with you that beginning is the hardest part of an essay. I like this sentence very much,"Usually writting something acedemic requires research which i always think is going to take like a million years and just the thought of that scares me." In China, there is also the similar meaning's sentence," The beginning of everything is the most difficult." Therefore, it's true that if we want to write a good essay, we should think much more about the beginning. In fact, I like your words very much. I think they are very lively and attractive. Sometimes, I will feel relax and laugh as I get information from it. I love it very much.

Hi Andy,
Although I don't want to admit it, but what you said is so right! I also find it very hard to search resources to complete the acedemic essay. I often do it a little bit early than the deadline just like you.
Sometimes, even I know the knowlege or my personal view, I cannot describe it clearly.
Nevertheless, I prefer creative essay instead of acedemic essay, it's more fun!

Your objectivity comes out in class discussions, Andy. You are also very analytical and very good at pulling out the important points I want the class to notice. These are the reasons I call on you so much.

Getting started is probably the most difficult part of writing. What I do is just start writing, no matter how nonsensical it may seem to me. More often than not, when I go back and read what I've written, I've successfully made the point I am trying to make.
